Look at the forecast. This time of year (August – October) the weather is warm and comfortable during the day, but evenings can be cool. To stay warm during the night hours, pack a light sweater or jacket that can be paired with more than one outfit. And don’t be surprised with those cool casino floors and restaurants – that extra layer will keep you going all day long.

Pool season is still open – so bring your swimsuit – but be warned that most pool seasons end in October. Be sure to check your resort before heading to the airport.

Be aware: many restaurants and nightclubs have strict dress code policies, so check the requirements before you pack your bag.

Be prepared to walk…a lot. If you haven’t been to Vegas, make sure you bring comfortable walking sneakers or sandals. Most resort properties and casinos are huge, and the Vegas strip is more than four miles long. Some statistics say it takes 1.5 to 2 hours to walk, but that’s without any stops along the way. From the Fountains of Bellagio and the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace to the Madame Tussauds wax museum and Eiffel Tower viewing deck, there is plenty to explore and entice you to veer off course on the Las Vegas strip.

• Sunglasses
• A refillable bottle to stay hydrated and combat the dry weather conditions (TSA* allows empty water bottles in carry-on and checked luggage – make sure it’s empty when you travel through security!)
• Travel-sized toiletries (TSA-approved liquids* for carry-ons must be 3.4 ounces or smaller and stored in a clear quart-size bag – one bag per passenger)
