Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) Announces New Service with American Airlines
American Airlines is launching a new service, operated by Landline, to connect Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) with Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and more than 150 destinations served by American and its partner airlines. Tickets are on sale at www.aa.com or American’s mobile app, with service commencing October 20, 2025.
This is not your normal “airport shuttle.” Passengers will check their baggage, clear TSA security right here at RFD, and depart just as they would on any other flight. Passengers can then relax in leather seats on your way to and from ORD to seamlessly board their connecting flight – with complimentary entertainment, Wi-Fi and power at every seat. This premium motorcoach experience offers many of the same amenities as a flight and is booked just like any other connection flight in the American Airlines network.
- Travel Time: The journey is expected to take approximately one hour and 35 minutes.
- Ticketing: Tickets for this service can be booked through American Airlines.
- AAdvantage® Benefits: Passengers can earn AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points on these trips, just like they would on a regular flight.
Connecting through Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) using Landline:
- Mobile check-in: Check in for your trip 24 hours before your departure from RFD, just like a flight.
- Security and Check-in: Head to the airport, check your bags, and clear security.
- Boarding: Board the motorcoach and enjoy the ride to the hub.
- Connect to Flight: Go to your connecting gate at ORD and board your next flight. Your checked baggage will automatically be transferred to your next flight.
“With this service, our passengers will be able to combine the hassle-free experience of RFD with the domestic and international connections with American Airlines. We are very excited for the opportunity to partner with both American Airlines and Landline to bring this service to the region,” said Executive Director, Zachary Oakley.
