General Aviation
The Chicago-Rockford International Airport (RFD) is proud to be one of the best-serviced airports in the region. With 10,000’ and 8400’ runways, multiple instrument approaches and 24/7 operations, we can handle just about any aircraft in the world, from small piston aircraft to the largest of airliners and cargo aircraft. Our FBO’s cannot only handle your arrival and fuel needs, but have decades of experience maintaining a variety of aircraft ranging from piston, turboprop and corporate to regional airliners and warbirds.
Weather can change here in the Midwest, and we’re equipped to handle it. Our experienced ground team has one of the best snow removal operations in the country. Weather closures are almost unheard of. We also have hangar space available and 24/7 deice capabilities. We handle airline operations on a daily basis (terminal/gate space is available) and have TSA and US Customs on field. RFD is a US Port of Entry. We are a primary reliever for Chicago’s O’Hare (ORD) Airport, and an excellent international air cargo alternative, offering less congested airspace, quick turn times, cheaper handling/fuel prices, plenty of room on the ramp and friendly service.
RFD offers several Fixed Base Operations (FBO) options to meet a full spectrum of airline, cargo, corporate, avionics and general aviation services. From refueling to maintenance, RFD has an FBO operation that will meet your needs.
Rock Valley College is also located at the Rockford airport, and offers an FAA-approved two-year degree program to provide instruction leading the Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate training and examinations. In addition, Emery Air partners with them on a US Department of Labor approved Apprenticeship Program. Visit their website for more information.
